How do you find the side length of a square when you know the area?   Area of a square is side times side.  For example if the area is 25 cm² and 5 x 5 = 25, the side length = 5 cm. 

Square roots are found using the perfect squares.

1² = 1            √1 = 1           Square root of 1 = 1

2² = 4            √4 = 2           Square root of 4 = 2
3² = 9            √9 = 3           Square root of 9 = 3
4² = 16         √16 =4           Square root of 16 = 4
