I think it was great how several responses used words from the poem to support their thinking. What are some other examples of metaphor or simile from these poems? Explain using evidence from the poems what emotion these parts show?
Vivian also developed a question about what made the mom want to say this to her son. Several bloggers commented on the emotions in other poems as well. What are some other emotions we notice?

Mama to Son- "Sometimes goin' in the dark, where there ain't been no light"
ReplyDeleteThe metaphor of darkness relates to how life has not been clear (crystal), instead their are times of worry. For example he goes on to say "don't turn back". The unclear times make us feel discouraged.
I know taht the poets states the floor had nor carpet which would lead me to believe he ment life is not easy to "walk" across.
ReplyDeleteI think the poet is meaning with all this metaphors that people in this case the mom has gone through many things in this life but as an advice to her son is that life is hard but you can make your on decisions and dont regret.
ReplyDeleteThe poem "Mom to Son" is pretty sad and it shows the relationship between the mother and the son and how depressing it was.
