What Do You Recommend?

My hobbies are enjoying interesting books, movies, and music. This time of year there are always lots of cool things that come out for the summer months.
Share a favorite book/movie/song that you enjoy. What makes it special? How does it help you connect to memories? Was it based on a true story?

Teens Ink (www.teensink.com) has reviews written by teens for teens.

The Outsiders by, S.E. Hinton
This book review includes specific details about the way language is used to draw readers into the story. "If you like symbolism, this novel has plenty, but the main one is to “stay gold.” The book has a strong message of staying young and innocent. It teaches us not to create a shell to block emotions and the importance of friendship." (teensink.com, 2011)
The way word choices can relate to a theme in the book is an interesting point. The reviewer, Michael Twinsburg, points out the symbol "stay gold" to show readers a cool feature of the book.

Check out the full review from the link above. Do you agree with Michael Twinsburg that this book sounds like a fun read? What books do you want to read, or have heard great things about?

  3. Jennifer, The Bronx Tale sounds like a realistic movie that has some interesting plot twists. It's cool that you talked with Mr. I about this movie too. I like how you left it open about the ending, and didn't spoil it for us:)
Even though it's not a "new release", The Bronx Tale sounds like a "movie to watch for" because of it's plot. Thanks for the recommendation, Jennifer.

  4. Percy Jackson and the Olympians
    Kane Chronicles
    and
    The Heroes of Olympus.

Yes, they're all about gods. It's all fiction books and what made me like it is it's full of suspense and it always excites me what will happen next. It makes the reader get more and more interested in every chapter!

Percy Jackson and the Olympians is about a 14 year old kid that found out he was a demigod and he was the son of Poseidon. Click >http://www.percyjacksonbooks.com/< or copy the site for more info's.

The Kane Chronicles is about 2 kids that has the blood of the pharaohs. The 1st book has been released and it is actually good. Here is the site for more things about it.

  5. Percy Jackson seems to have quite an adventure in these books! The monsters and challenges that Percy faces sound interesting. I think the way author, Rick Riordan describes the setting makes the reader feel part of the action.
I am interested in the book about Egyptians. The Kane Chronicles has a fun mix between historical fiction the fantasy world.
Thanks for sharing these great books and websites!
